I Love Old Barn Wood!

Much has gone in the Kaminski house hold:) Too much to even find time to write! Crazy how life just sort of takes off. What have we been up to?
Barn wood just waiting!
My awesome hubby
Hummm...Two sundays ago, we finally picked up our old barn wood! The wood had been at a friend's house for over two months. It was worth it though! We had it put in a green house of sorts for wood to heat it up and kill any bugs that might have made their home there. The wood took so long because we had so much rain for a such a long time! Long story short, it is finally here! Let the projects begin!

This last Saterday, Tyler and I finally tackled some of the projects I had wanted to do with the wood. We put together a head board for our bed and Tyler made a shelf for the guest room. After alot of scrubbing and sanding and a clear coat of spray to seal the wood, we have a wonderful looking head board. Exactly how I envisioned it to come out. I got the idea off of this website: http://www.designsponge.com/2011/11/diy-project-salvaged-barnwood-headboard.html
Guess where I found it? On pinterest...no surprise there I am sure;) Thanks to Emily, my sister-in-law, I have found all kinds of cool ideas.
the shelf was more my idea. I just wanted it to look rustic and western like. I think it came out pretty awesome.
One other project that I worked on today, was box shelves for in the master bed room. I love the look of them, so I got on line and I found a tutorial for them and I made them:) Got to love the internet! There are so many fantastic ideas out there just waiting to be discovered.
Other news: Zed is growing...very fast! He has reached 21 pounds...He is definately going to need to start learning how to get up in the truck by himself soon...I can only carry that little guy so long before he becomes a big guy and a heavy one at that.
My little oranges!
My Golden Cherry Tomatoes
My plants are growing like crazy too...got to love spring time! I have oranges all over my tree slowly growing:) It was so sad to have to take a bunch off, but it is so worth it, because there will be still plenty to go around:)
Right now I am looking at harvesting Strawberries, Cherry tomatoes, Clementines, and Jalapeno Peppers. Yay! I love growing things!
I have been wanting to do a Bonsai tree for quite a while now, and I was surprised when Tyler brought me one home from work. This is my little Juniper tree:) It is far from being pretty yet, but I am excited to make it into what I want it to look like:) I think we will be going to the mountain side fur tree wind swept look. I think it will turn out nicely:) I am trying to grow branches, but I think it is going to take a while. Everything has got those little prickly spikes on it right now. it might take a year or so for it to look like an official miniature tree.
Well with all that having been said, I am enjoying life to say the least. Prayer request for this month would be that first and for most I would cleave to God. I am in the process of getting ready to see Tyler off on his first rotation off shore. To say that it is a little scary is an understatement. I love my husband very much, and it will be hard not to have him around for two whole weeks. Alot of life can be lived with in that time! I want to live it well and not be crying my eyes out every day he's gone. My goal is to work on a project while he is gone and then show him all the progress I have made when he comes back:) I think that will be a good way to measure how I am staying focused.
And Secondly, that I would be open to the ministry that God has for me here in this area. I have neighbors that I see every day. I have a ministry at the hospital where I get to encourage kids through art. I get to talk to the parents of those kids in the hospital. How can I reach out to those hurting families and share the hope of Christ with them? Pray for me as I wrestle with how to openly allow God to use me.
Well my friends and family, I hope all is well. Love you and miss you all!- Jules
